Part of ABB Cylon’s CB Line of BACnet field controllers, the CBXi Series of controllers is built on an extendible platform that features 8 UniPuts™ with Relay and 8 Universal Inputs, and feature support for up to five FLX (Field Level eXpansion) Series extension modules providing a scalable solution from 16 up to 96 (pending) points of control.

The CBX-8R8-H and CBX-8R8 are fully programmable BTL-listed BACnet Advanced Application Controllers (B-AAC) that communicate on an RS-485 local area network using the BACnet MS/TP and feature support for Modbus® RTU devices. Modbus allows integration of devices into control strategy such as motor drives, meters and other sensors.
Each feature-rich controller includes 8 UniPuts™ with Relays and 8 Universal Inputs. UniPuts™ are hardware connections that can be configured as inputs or outputs (software selectable). The CBX Series’ 16 on-board I/O can be expanded up to 64 points using the FLX Series of Field Level eXpansion modules.

The FLX-PS24 is designed for the FLX (Field Level eXpansion) module integration with the CBXi-8R8 and CBXi-8R8. The IP based BACnet® Building Controllers and main plant controllers support routing for BACnet MS/TP and integration support for both Modbus® TCP or Modbus RTU without the use of additional gateways. Through the addition of the integrated FLX-PS24 unit power supply, the CBX Series now allows up to 96 points of control with 5 FLX modules.
The FLX-PS24 expansion power supply passes 24 V DC field power to the I/O modules at the right of the supply and creates a new field voltage partition segment for driving field devices. The unit links (in-line) to the FLX-bus to enable the connection of additional 4 FLX modules, allowing a CBXi trunk to be expanded beyond 64 I/O points. It can also be used to facilitate remote location of FLX modules in a CBX or CBXi system, providing local grounding.
